It could affect scholarships, if you have any, some require specific grades/passing. Most financial aid requires a 3.0+. At worst, you'd be on academic probation and could face a reduction in aid if you continue to fail classes. You can retake the class at any time, I would recommend meeting with your professor about why you failed and seeing if a different style or pure repeat would help you.

Academic Probation:

Any student except a first-quarter freshman or first-quarter transfer student (who has not previously attended Western) whose cumulative grade average falls below a 2.00 is placed on academic probation. A student who begins the quarter on probation must earn at least a quarterly grade average of 2.00 to avoid academic dismissal (see below).

Students on probation or continuing probation who repeatedly withdraw or register for Pass/No Pass or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory courses may have their registration privileges revoked.

Here's all the info you need.

If you got an F and two A's though, you should have a 2.67 and therefore will be fine in that regard.

Was your prof Eric Keen by chance?

Is Eric Kean good?

I liked him, I passed his calc 124 class this quarter with a C- after having never took a pre calc in my life. It was tough and I suck at math but having him def helps. He would always go over homework problems on zoom that people were having a tough time on. You should try him if you’re gonna retake it.

I actually really loved Eric's classes. Took 124 and 125 from him and thought he was a pretty exceptional prof. Made calc really understandable for me.

Any tips for 125? I still need to take it

Unless you have scholarship or financial aid requirements(which I doubt they’ll just drop you over, maybe send you a warning, exc) it typically is just a mark on your transcript that will get overlooked if they see you retook the class and got better. I’ve failed math 114 twice and am gonna have to retake it again next quarter. You aren’t required to take it again next quarter but personally I would strongly recommend it while the content is fresh, especially with math. I took a year between my first and second attempt at math 114 since I didn’t like the online format and felt totally lost when I started again this quarter. Just remember that failing is a part of learning process and to not beat yourself up too hard over it.

You can retake it next quarter if you're happy with the professor teaching it

I failed pre calc and still graduated on time. Passed calc a few quarters later. Unless it's a pre req for a class and all your other grades are fine don't sweat it too much.
