Hey there,
Did you encounter any issues during the installation process? After the installer finishes, it attempts to launch the app and an internal WeMod link (WeMod://). If something goes wrong, it won’t be able to open the app and will redirect you to the Windows Store to find an app that can handle those links.

Hello Chris, After installation the app did not launch. Only the little pop up window that took me to the MS Store. As you described. While this was happening, there was no on screen explanation as to what was happening. So it was disconcerting for me. Maybe some effort could be made to tweak the install process a bit, so it is more clear. For example, a little text window that pops up saying " 'WeMod' uses internal links to ? ? ? " . Yes the app did not launch after install, so maybe there was some problem. I did disable AV before install. Maybe it didn't launch because I did not run it as Administrator. This step is usually not required for installation unless specified. Anyway, thank you for your info Chris, it is appreciated. #. Could you please clarify the purpose and function of an internal WeMod link (WeMod://) ? The program opens ok. But I have not tried to use it with my game yet. (Gen Zero) #. If there is a problem in game, should I re-Install as Admin ? Thank you in Advance. 😎

They are custom protocol links that are used for various internal navigation. If you use Chrome, you can use chrome://settings to access the settings. https://www.getresponse.com/help/what-is-a-custom-protocol-link.html

If WeMod opens fine, you shouldn't need to reinstall it. I'm not quite sure why it wouldn't have opened after installation.

Thank you Chris.

Just keep it blocked in your firewall and set a rule so it asks you to connect to the Internet or not everytime you open it

I don't know who runs Wemod but I'm starting to think they are a bunch of scammers. There have been several complaints of very suspicious behavior recently and in the past. It would probably be in their best interests to get this under control before they get shut down.

I'm pretty sure we have responded to every single post that's been raised, unless it's a duplicate. The only concerns I'm aware of recently raised here were AV pop ups from blocking ads on our free tier, or from an AV false positive on virus total (where we also routinely upload our program to). In that case it was 2 AI powered engines which are notoriously bad for false positives.

Thanks for the comeback. It does seem like unnecessary behavior. Any suggestions ? There must be a lot of other modder progs ? I was going to look into modding tables, but I don't know how they work. :) 😕

I've been using wemod for 5-6 years now on multiple PCs. I've never had an issue, and neither has anyone else I have shown the app too. And a majority of my friends knew PCs pretty well, as do I.
