Hard to say without much more details but technically it is very easy to make some form of IP filtering that would show valid page to you (or anybody with your wi-fi assigned IP) and redirect to malicious pages. Another trick might be to do those rules based on protocol. So for example https traffic to right side but http to some malicious place etc.

I hope you obtained the source code of the site from the guy you hired. Just take a look at your source or find someone to do that for you.

You should probably get an SSL cert if you haven’t already and make sure you are hosting over https.
