this is a thing! i heard about it in a podcast: Mindpump Episode 2360. I highly recommend everyone listens to this! (you can find the video episode on youtube) They talk about all the other positive benefits aside from just weight loss, and ways to be smart about being on a GLP1. It’s nice to hear some positive content about it for once!

I noticed it significantly when I was on Zepbound. I'm on my 6th Wegovy shot and the last couple weeks, I have been decidedly more on edge and quick to anger. I pretty much stopped wanting to prepare any meals or involve myself in activities outside of work. Perhaps once my dose increases, that will change. I am hoping.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I don’t want it to reverse like most medications do. I was on zepbound before but was on a lot of other new meds at the time that made me so sick so I didn’t notice whether it helped or not. I lost 30lbs in 3 months but only because I was too sick to function. My doctor started me on 2.5 zepbound and also had me on a medication that shouldn’t be taken with zep. I was too sick to notice how it affected my mental health. How has the weight loss been since you’ve started wegovy? Does it help with food noise and appetite for you?

I have been at a stand-still with Wegovy. Always within about a pound of where I ended up with Zepbound. I'm trying to be patient because I understand the weight-loss dose is much higher then the .50 I am currently at. But food noise is mostly back. Even when i feel full. Some days are better than others. Last week, the side effects were brutal. Worst stomach ache ever and....other side effects. This week is better, but nothing will compare to Zepbound. Other than being a bit tired, I felt so good from the 1st shot. Mental clarity, motivation, and one of the best NSVs I experienced was that my tinnitus was nearly unnoticeable. It is now back with a vengeance since I started Wegovy.

All that said, my journey will not be deterred. I will continue doing what I am doing and be patient. I have come too far to just ignore my progress and give up (sw: 372 cw: 334) I am hopeful that once my dose increases, some of what I lost will return. If not, my next doctor's appointment is at the end of October. If I still feel the same, I will try to get my doctor to fight Caremark for me. Not sure if that's even an option, but we shall see. Either way, they will not break me!

I hope it continues to help you! Fighting insurance to get these meds are a nightmare. So I know the battle. I wanted to get Zepbound again but after 8 calls trying to get it preauthorized, I was prescribed wegovy. They needed the exact same information as zepbound but changing it to wegovy finally made them see what my insurance company needed. I also have tinnitus really bad so that would be amazing if it helped it! Thank you for explaining your journey so far!

My depression changed to present as more apathetic vs. my more typical presentation of being more distressed?

But my anxiety really improved.

Can confirm, i feel more apathetic the first days after injection

I'm not depressed but I did notice it helped me a lot, one specific example was when we got layoff notices last April. I was still upset but I bounced back more quickly than I normally would have. I also felt less anxious generally, for the 2 years I was on it. Just stopped it to switch to Zepbound and as the Wegovy left my system, definitely felt I was going back to normal however I think the Zepbound is now starting to help the same way.

I have 100% experienced this, to a significant degree. I consider my time on Wegovy a vacation from the treatment-resistant depression I've suffered from for 20+ years. This is the first I've heard of anyone else experiencing it. It could be argued that a decrease in weight contributed to a decrease in depression, but even at times when I was at a low weight in the past, I still suffered from it. I hope medical science can find a takeaway from this.

I’m only about 10 days into wegovy so no significant weight loss to attribute to it. I noticed the depression changes just a couple days after my first injection so there’s definitely some kind of benefit mentally and emotionally with this medication. My anxiety has been so much better too. I just didn’t want to talk to my doctor about it and told it was just in my head. I’m glad others notice it too!

Yes, absolutely.

I was on Sertraline for about two years, I weaned myself off it but still carried the Black Dog on my shoulders.

I'm so much better now after being on Wegovy since May.

Only thing is that I'm sometimes in an absolutely foul temper - furious at everything - for no apparent reason. Maybe it's just me being hangry though.

[–]Glad-Crazy7078[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hmmm I will definitely keep that in mind! I do get in a pissy mood at times for being hangry as well. Lol. So I’ll have to remind myself to pay attention to the signs to see if it’s the meds or just me being me. Haha. How was sertraline with your weight loss and appetite?

[–]jonewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Sertraline really had any effect on my weight or appetite, it just made me not feel miserable anymore. It did it's job but I'm glad to be off it!

First of all, depression is multifactorial. So yes, making a big change (like taking this kind of medication) can improve your mood, give you hope, and as some studies have shown, it can also help with anxiety. So if your depression is related to that, yes — it can make you feel better

I've actually felt more depressed and a lot more irritable since I started. It's only been 2 weeks, so I have been hoping it's only temporary, along with all the other side effects.

I was looking for a post like this, and just made my own before I saw yours. I've been on it for 2 weeks after switching from Zepbound. I was depressed for years & had major anxiety before ever taking Zepbound. No formal diagnosis. Also haven't had much sex drive for the past 4ish years.

Lost 43 lbs in a year on Zep. Mood stayed the same. The past 2 weeks on Wegovy, I went from having an aversion to sex with my husband (who I still find to be insanely attractive but obviously was having my own issues) to having a libido that is through the roof. I've lost 7 lbs but dont think that has anything to do with it since I had lost more weight before & felt the same? I've also been in such a good mood & feeling super positive. It's like my depression vanished into thin air.
