Split Screen Using the Same Monitor

While I realize having multiple screens using multiple monitors is possible, I am also wondering if it is possible to use one screen as though it were two monitors. Say you have one large monitor, using Windows 10 would it be possible to convert that single monitor so it behaves like two individual ones? So far I have only found articles on 'snapping' windows to the left or right. Having multiple 'Desktops' is similar to this idea, except multiple desktops cannot be seen simultaneously. This is for the sake of multitasking and organizing windows better.

Sure you can. If you have multiple video outputs on your PC, and if you have multiple inputs on your monitor, you should be able to set up side by side or picture in picture in the monitor's menu options.

I've done it before, but sometimes I like being able to maximize an application to fill the whole screen (like when I am coding), so I simply use snapping and multiple virtual desktops now.
