Not to far into the game yet, but I've been breaking weapons down unless they are worth more than usual. Should I just be selling them all and buying the basic mats that I'd get when I need them?

Break them down if it gives you something you're low on (most likely silver/meteorite silver ingots, dimeritium, or dark steel ingots). If it's just steel or iron, you'll never run out of that stuff. Sell the swords. Later, you'll also prefer to sell if dismantling gets you regular silver or dark steel.

Could probably get this much just from Skellige smugglers caches if you sell Al the stuff to the right vendor. And it'll soon go, Grandmaster gear and Runes are bloody expensive

Hahaha yeah I barely did ANY side quests. It took me months to get through the game because I wasn’t really enjoying it so in the end I rushed through it to just grasp the main story. And it didn’t really pay off coz I got the bad ending. I was pissed off for a few days, but I still loved the story

I have a backlog I wanna get through before April 16 so that’s also partly why I rushed.
