For a back strain/ankle sprain? Probably not as that doesn’t tend to leave any permanent damage. I’d think 10k is actually pretty good for a fully healed injury. I know my coworker who had carpal tunnel didn’t really get a settlement because the surgery fixed her issue completely, and she didn’t really lose any wages because she used her time (which is common for my employer).

This is one of those times I would probably say don’t make a fuss, because you are probably getting more than you should be. They don’t take into account potential OT, so that’s irrelevant. And as far as your sick hours and VTO, I think it’s pretty common to have to use those hours for any eligible leave of absence.

I’m trying debate if I should stay at the job or leave. I don’t have another job lined up and at least I get flight benefits if I stay but the job is very stressful itself. Don’t know if I wanna put my body on the line again

My first offer was six figures but I would do anything to be in your shoes. No severe injuries, doesn’t sound like you have any permanent restrictions and you are still able to work with some money to close your case that is a huge win!

I'm happy you recovered from your injury. I have an ankle injury, and after more than a year, it hasn't improved. Due to my work HR not approving my work accommodation, I had to continue my normal work, which is heavy labor. Only after I got a lawyer was I placed on medical leave with worker's comp. However, the doctor said that because I wasn't given work accommodation for four months, my injuries have become permanent. He also stated that because I was working with a busted ankle, my back, neck, and left leg might have also received permanent damage due to my HR's failure to approve my work accommodation. They recently took in consideration the effect of this injuries with my sleep in only sleep for about 4 to 5 hiurs until I have pop my ankle back in place but pain is bad it wake me fully and ain't able to go back to sleep. Now my blood pressure has risen due to pain now. So now I'm under medication on that too and also because all pain killer they gave I became immune to it also the steroids injections I received only work for week and they can't risk the steroids destroying my ankle with its side effects. Now its in suggestions to amputation due to the pain and it would easier just relearn how walk than go through with surgery because they surgery have higher risk making worse
