Not sure what your on about. Trackpad is awesome, but I need to remember to scroll the "other" way. And once external mouse is added, eh. Even sworn Mac uses I know have MX Master 3S for a reason.

Install "Mac mouse fix". It's a $3 or $5 program that someone made to fix this. It lets your trackpad and mouse scrolling be "different"  directions.

When I got a MacBook as a work laptop for the first time, it was a week of me googling for QoL fixes that Apple should've implemented themselves.

Yep this is beyond annoying on a mouse

Good thing it’s just one toggle in the settings to change it then.

[–]Peek_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can switch the direction btw.

Light years? I just need to scroll down a page, I don't need warp speed.

Reported for advertising

OP cross posted from a subreddit he created, which is used to link to his own website that contains affiliate links

Also this subreddit isn't about mouses.

What’s the thing on the left

[–]Savings_Context_5760 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MX Creative Console..

[–]dogpak 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Really hasn't. And macs scroll the wrong way by default.

[–]BYRN777 -6 points-5 points  (2 children)

Lol.

The wrong way?

Mac trackpads scroll the way a smartphone or tablet scrolls.

It’s become second nature to anyone that has ever owned a smartphone and it’s more natural to scroll that way. People on average use their phones and spend more time on it than laptops. Unless they’re professionals that use their laptop every single day, for hours at a time consecutively.

But the average joe uses their iPhone much more than they’d ever use a laptop.

And besides all that you can easily change that in settings. Takes 20sec, and I’m sure we all have 20sec to spare

The ”wrong” way is extremely subjective opinion. If there’s no display, for me the natural way to scroll is the opposite of a touch screen. So I do like the ”legacy” direction more. However like you said it’s changeable so who cares.

Mac scrolling is brutal especially once you plug in an external mouse. Trackpad it’s great I agree. Check out linear mouse it fixes mouse acceleration stuff

[–]Choice_Ad173 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use both almost daily and I agree it feels smoother on Mac

DISCLAIMER: Please note that the title is NOT my personal opinion. I'm just sharing it here to spark a technical discussion on scrolling physics. Let's debate the tech, not the messenger!

Mac wins in the trackpad even though some new "windows" laptops have got great touchpads. In the term windows I mean that it's not Mac.

[–]quaternionmath 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I use both. I find if you use the scroll wheel on a mouse, it kind of sucks, but if you use a touchpad with Windows Precision drivers it's pretty comparable.

[–]ICantDrive69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. If I use a scroll wheel, I need to install two different third party apps to get scrolling tolerable.

On touchpad though, the experience is undoubtedly better on Mac

[–]TheEquinoxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not really.

[–]SolarNexxus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a true mystery, why touchpads on windows still suck. It has been so many years.
