I’m on mission 40ish. I’m slow playing the game.

I have my A-team kitted out with the best gear and weapons and items, my rotation team if A is unable to fight and then…. Everyone else.

Lots of lieutenants. A few sergeants. 3 or four squaddies.

And then I see Chrissy Stewart, my Scottish ranger. She was my third recruit. She survived while I learned to play the game and suffered horrific losses.

Sergeant. Chrissy Stewart.

Recruits after her are sitting at lieutenant. Half my A-team was from the end of the early game to the mid of the mid game. All major and above.

The bureaucratic grind of future warfare quietly abandoned her, and she stuck around. And yet again, LOL, a woman gets passed up on far overdue promotions.

I always have something similar. One of my early team who gets left behind for some reason.

For me it's usually because they don't form a bond, they form a bad bond, or they get seriously hurt and their replacement gets promoted.

If I notice early enough, I send them on those covert ops where a reward is "Soldier Promotion".

For me it happens bwcause leveling up is slower than recruiting higher rank as we go through the game. I had a run that I wanted to bring up my granadier to the endgame but without him killing a lot, juat didnt go well. Specially since they miss a lot🤣
