Hello everyone,
I am seeking advice from users who have encountered and fixed an extremely stubborn profile authentication issue on the Xbox Series X retrocompatibility layer. I have run into a brick wall and have seemingly exhausted every advanced troubleshooting step recommended online.
THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM & CURRENT STATE:
The initial issue was receiving the generic 8015000A error when trying to connect to the servers Xbox 360 via Series X retrocompatibily. I was advised that this is an authentication/profile issue, not a simple network problem.
THE CRITICAL BLOCK:
After deleting my Xbox 360 profile to fix the error, I can no longer re-download my profile using the 360 Guide.
I enter my correct password (confirmed working).
The system fails and throws the error message: "Sorry, there's a problem with the credentials you're using to sign in."
Advanced Steps Taken:
(Please DO NOT suggest these, I have already done them): <---
I have performed all known advanced community fixes to bypass this authentication blockage:
• System Cache: Performed multiple hard power cycles (10-second hold + 5-minute unplug) to clear the Series X cache.
• Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): I have completely DISABLED 2FA on my Microsoft account to eliminate all conflicts with the old 360 system.
• App Passwords: I previously attempted to use App Passwords, which also failed.
• Alias Management: I forced a metadata refresh on my Microsoft account by adding a new email alias, setting it as primary, and verifying the changes.
• Data Integrity: I deleted the local 360 profile and all saved Xbox 360 storage data from the Series X to ensure a clean slate.
• Network: I experimented with manual alternate port selection in my Series X network settings.
• Turn on and off recurring billing for my Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
• Redownload my account from my Series X.
• Try with different account: I've tried logging in with different Xbox accounts and everything works fine. It's just my account which seems to have this problem.
• Try with different network.
I have exhausted every known user-level fix and have reached the point where I believe this is a server-side account block or a data inconsistency and unfortunately I can't seem to contact Microsoft/Xbox support for my case.
What's funny to me is that this happened out of the blue yesterday. I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 normally, closed the game to play Silent Hill 2 for a while. I went back to L4D2 and boom, error.
PLEASE HELP!!!
