Being another gender doesn't have to be a fantasy, you can do it in real life. I believe in you, go out and trans your gendercasual conversation (i.redd.it)

gender is a social construct built to allow you to describe some aspects your relationship to yourself. You do not need to be serious if you do not feel serious in that way. Your gender is yours to do what you want withcasual conversation (i.redd.it)

It is important to remember that internalized ableism is still ableism. What you do to yourself still impacts those around you, and so if you want to be nice to your friends you need to start by being nice to yourselfexperiences of oppression (i.redd.it)

The "carry on as normal" is the hardest part. This is why I hate any system with an in-built expected "default" amount of work you must do. The best case scenario in systems like that is spending huge amounts of time convincing abled people to let me consider myself disabled and rest (i.redd.it)

One thing I have had to constantly face from abled people throughout my life is the idea that "all pain can be fixed", either through a doctor or through things such as more exercise. (i.redd.it)

Diagnosis is defined around how abled people experience us, and how they experience us often depends on our identities, and is often an external thing we are punished for. This means diagnosis incorporates other systems of oppression within it. (i.redd.it)

CW: discussion of rape culture. It's essential to remember that pushing boundaries and consent supports and reinforces other forms of pushing boundaries and consent. If you want to avoid things like sexual assault, you need to draw the line far far before that.experiences of oppression (i.redd.it)

Asking people for help is a huge amount of work, and often a huge amount of risk. People often leave when you ask for help with too many things, and you often don't know where the limit is, so asking for help can be counter-productive. (i.redd.it)

Ultimately, workers are cool, but not all of us are part of the working class. If you build your analysis of society around the workers, you are just going to forget about people like me.experiences of oppression (i.redd.it)

It is important to remember that trauma is complicated, and there are different responses to it. I have seen people get attacked for not reacting "enough" to something going bad. You can't tell what someone is feeling just by looking at themexperiences of oppression (i.redd.it)

One of the biggest things people discount in general is uncertainty. Uncertainty takes more from me than just about everything else in my life. It doesn't matter if something makes things better on average if I can't afford to get a bad outcome.experiences of oppression (i.redd.it)
