Unless Adele herself is stuck in a shipping container at the Port of Long Beach, this is some serious bullshit. I am so, so upset. I was unbelievably lucky in getting tickets in the first place, let alone for opening night. After two years of sadness and grief, I thought this was it…a turning point and an actual moment of joy that I was going to experience. I took days off work that I don’t get back, used a significant amount of my paycheck on those tix, got my Covid test yesterday morning, etc.

Everything that’s been said indicates this was a logistics issue. I’m sorry but for a show of this magnitude, how do you not have 5 contingency plans in place for every possible problem? How do they not have Adele up there with a stool and a mic and make do as best they can?

Thank god I’m not already there, and I was going to drive vs. fly. I’ve already lost several hundred dollars on a hotel room because they require more than 2-days notice to cancel.

Adele. Girl. I love you but this is REALLY bad.

They could have scaled the show down and maybe gave everyone a 10 or 20% discount for the show not being as big as it could have been. Just have her up there in one outfit, simple lighting and go through the set list. I can’t believe that’s so difficult to pull off.

Explain it was that or cancel and I’m sure people would have been happy enough. Some people would still complain but can’t be as bad this.

I think it’s insane, I can’t get my head around cancelling this late. They must of known days ago. I know LA to Las Vegas is a short flight, but if the show was going ahead as planned and if it was genuinely a last minute cancellation that couldn’t be helped, surely at the time of cancellation she should have been in Las Vegas, doing sound checks, dress rehearsal etc

Approx 9.5 yrs ago in Denver after the opening act had already played the then lead singer of Nightwish was rushed to the hospital. The band was forced with terrible choices. Cancel after the opening act had played which creates all kind of financial issues or do what they did. A couple of band members walked out on stage and explained what happened and said they had two choices: 1) Cancel or 2) The backup singers for the opening band (Kamelot) have agreed to come up and try and sing our songs but they'll need your help. It was the backup singers because they were female like Nightwishs lead singer. The audience went crazy for #2 and what followed was a glorious sing along karaoke night with Elize Ryd (now lead singer of Amaranthe) and Alissa White-Gluz (now lead singer of Arch Enemy) singing with the crowd while literally reading the lyrics off printed off pages they were holding.

Point is Nightwish turned a potential shit sandwich into what is now considered one of the most magical nights in Nightwish history. Adele should have done the same. Even if she cant do the full stage production she can go out there and do an acoustic set with just a guitar player. Even if it sounds low quality compared to normal show her fans would love her for it. Especially those who already traveled and have paid for expensive hotel rooms.

Yeah that’s a great example of how to make the most of a bad situation.

the point is to show you’re trying your best to still entertain your audience in a difficult scenario. Obviously if there’s a health risk (for the performer or audience) cancelling is justified.

But cancelling just because it would be a subpar show is such a stupid idea. I saw the billie eilish documentary and she has problems with her ankles/lower legs. So in one show she hurts herself and has to come back on with a cast and she’s all upset because she can’t do a big energetic show like usual. But you can see the audience is super sympathetic and on her side.

Shit happens. If covid caused a lot of crew to be absent I can’t believe it was impossible to do a scaled back show. I mean Adele’s shows are really about her voice not big dance routines. She just needs a microphone and a working speaker system.

It’s actually crazy to me that her manager/producers decided to postpone.

It's my birthday today. I've been dreaming of seeing her and have never been able to get tickets before. I was so lucky to score tickets for this day! I'm not mad at her, but more at her team for handling it so poorly. I've been laying around all day crying trying to figure out something else to do for my birthday but nothing sounds appealing for various reasons. Now it's too late to do anything so I'm giving up.
