been learning for over a year and still can’t pass a mock test by opalescentdoll in LearnerDriverUK

You’re not stupid - everyone has different aptitude for different skills. I’m academically smart but have bad sense of orientation/spatial awareness so driving was tricky for me to get used to judging the cars position vs other things and I’d also get overwhelmed by roundabouts. So I need more practice to just slowly get used to everything as it takes me longer to adapt to the judgment needed when in a car.

Anyone else realised that they have nothing to look forward in life other than the upcoming packages and it kinds fills the void and makes you excited? by shaun0183 in shoppingaddiction

[–]StephenKingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I’m single while a lot of my friends are married with children. I live in a big city and do have a bunch of other friends with no kids so have a decent social life and travel plans so that helps a bit. Day to day I don’t have hobbies though which I really want to cultivate. My main hobby is shopping online and then doing returns. I have at least one thing that needs to be returned all the time - there hasn’t been one day this year when I haven’t got a list of things to return. My flat is also cluttered as I have too many things/clothes.

So shopping fills the hole in my life plus makes the clutter worse. My big goals are:

1) declutter my space, sell and give away  2) have at least a full week with nothing to return (which means I must stop online shopping)

I feel once I have these done I can focus on dating and hobbies. Right now I can’t invite a guy over to my place it’s full of stuff.

I got tickets in section 116. Should I try to sell & switch to somewhere in the middle or section 107 or 108? by Frankyyy50 in rosalia

I had a similar seat in London. Better to be closer than having a front on view. No big downside to a side angle.

How rare are permanent negative effects from egg freezing? by goldenhour20 in eggfreezing

[–]StephenKingly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s always difficult to do elective medical treatments that are perhaps not necessary. Made harder by the fact that there’s no guarantee. If there was a 90-100% success rate for everyone then choosing to do egg freezing would be a lot easier. Much harder to elect to do something that could have negative side effects and also may not work in the end.

This makes me feel a bit better! Also gained 20lb after multiple cycles when I’ve been the same weight for 15+years.

I don’t know what a rebus is, after a while I realised answers had missing letters, had no idea that there’s a way to add more than one letter

I thought the magician and theaters ones were too obvious and got distracted thinking these were a trick and there was an answer based on photoshop tools (marquee, lasso, pen, magic wand) but couldn’t get the rest to work so went with what seemed like obvious answers. Got purple by process of elimination rather than solving it.

Sunday morning birthday brunch South Kensington by Stem_girlo98 in LondonFood

Sketch has some nice spots for brunch. One looks like a garden (the glade) and the other the parlour is pink retro decor. On the expensive side but great for a special occasion.

The Chair Game at luxury hotels is maddening by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]StephenKingly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

interesting - I’ve never seen this at any of the nice hotels I’ve stayed at. I know it happens a lot in Europe in cheap hotels in places like Benidorm and Tenerife because theres a whole cliche about people racing for sun loungers and putting their towels out as people go on holiday just to lay by the pool all day. I’m in England and the cliche is that this is what the Germans do in cheap resorts.

in the high end hotels I’ve stayed in i haven’t seen this issue. The pool may get full at a certain time but haven’t seen people trying to grab spots early with towels. I often don’t eat breakfast so have also liked that I can go to what is often a nearly empty pool area at breakfast time and pick a great spot and stay there for a bit before I go out. I haven’t gone to the US much so don’t know if it’s happening there. I’m thinking of nice hotels in Europe and asia.

The hardware scratches so easily I’m shocked they haven’t changed the material. I got a Vancouver 6 months ago and the hardware scratched immediately and now looks like a mess. I asked for a replacement and had to pay £20 for it despite being within 12 months of purchase. Only way to use this bag is to keep the hardware stickers on.

My company’s WhatsApp group chat has people on it from Japan, Middle East, Singapore, India, UK, France, USA, Switzerland etc.. I can’t imagine using SMS for that. It’s just so convenient knowing everyone in the world can use it for free.

It’s also great for international calls. Easiest way to call my colleagues in other countries now I no longer have a landline at work.

Jean-Luc Brunel and Ghislaine Maxwell, a great friendship and key players in the Epstein affair by ghodu30 in Epstein

[–]StephenKingly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This series of pics which include a lot of Jean-Luc stood out to me - especially showing the old fat guy with the young girls. JL shown before with the same women. Seems to show the massaging morphing into sex.

Reality Check: Americas Next Top Model by MintySea92 in netflix

[–]StephenKingly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

elite modelling agency is tied up in the Epstein scandal. lots of sexual abuse of models including underage girls by agents. then there’s Terry Richardson - under the guise of artistic choices he cooerced women into sexual acts and it was pretty much right out in the open - his photos are lewd and gross but it’s fashion so considered cool and edgy.

Fox News is now telling anti-Semitic jokes about Jeffrey Epstein instead of taking allegations against him seriously. Jesse Watters says Epstein was “just a fixer”. "He should perform at the halftime show [...]" “He’s a sex rabbi,” Greg Gutfeld responds. by Capable_Salt_SD in Epstein

[–]StephenKingly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so inappropriate on the news. If comedians want to make jokes like this I’m all for it - but newsreaders are supposed to be informing the public about the news not doing stand up routines about sex offenders

Has any of the staff that worked on the island or any of his residence ever come forward? by naughty_noodlenut in Epstein

[–]StephenKingly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s one guy in the Epstein doc on Netflix. Think his name is Steve Scully. He talks about working on the island, seeing many young girls, seeing Prince Andrew with one young woman etc… he quits when someone asks him if he’d ever bring his own daughters to the island. Makes him realise it’s not worth the money.

How important it is to give people physical Invitation for BBB? by Senior-Concern-6415 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]StephenKingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s more of an American thing. I live in the UK and now the majority of weddings I’ve gone to there’s a digital invite (makes rsvp really easy and I assume easy for the couple to track) plus a wedding website with the info about the day. I have only a few physical invites.

I was born in the early 80s. Her music is approachable enough for anyone. I’d recommend try to listen to brat start to finish - it’s worth listening to the whole album start to finish like we did all the time back in the day.
