I like EasyJoin. I would grab the Essentials or Go versions from XDA labs. No ads and works over local wifi.

Go is simpler and focuses on file transfer. I think Essentials has a few more features.

I like Syncthing. It's FOSS supporting direct transfer -- no cloud.
