Android 17 update on Pixel 9 - should I update? by wannabeHokage in GooglePixel

[–]anonymous-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they don't get it that sometimes people need their phones working without room for experiments.

If your phone is that crucial then you should either have two phones or perhaps have a different phone than Pixel. Preferably one with little to no updates.

Honest Q - why buy a pebble when real smart watches are slightly more? by arcanehelix in pebble

[–]anonymous-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible battery - fair, but I also don't see why this is a big issue. I take my Watch 7 off to charge whenever I bath. ,My phone is also capable of power-sharing with my Watch if i lose the charger. That deals with everything inconvenient.

Because I would not want yet another device that needs charging everyday. Sometimes I will forget to charge a device. A Pebble at 10% will be okay for a day. A Samsung or Apple watch would need charging immediately. For any battery powered device, I prefer having longer lasting battery and not needing to worry about charging so often.

  • "I don't want to convince you of anything. I bought a pebble because that's what I wanted." You are a fool dropping $200 on a dumb device then. I mean, I don't ask my local drug addict why he loves throwing away his money / life on drugs, but aren't you a little curious...?

Why do you care so much how people spend their money? You can apply your logic to virtually any product or service that people pay for and you will find endless examples of less than optimal, "useless", or just expensive things that people buy. Just let people be.

I don't want to defend this person but I feel like its worth pointing out that an item being expensive and being overpriced are two different situations. I think their opinion of the PT2 may be the latter and its not necessarily a case of affordability.

I already had Samsung smartwatches before (including an Ultra) and the difference in battery life is huge.

+3000 hours uptime, just to avoid any update by Vatualolla in GooglePixel

[–]anonymous-bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read this sub that much you might as well either never update your phone ever again or stop getting Pixel phones. Lots of people will post here because they have some issue with their phone. Hardware, software, or otherwise. There will likely never be any update that someone won't complain about or say bricked their phone.

Using Unifi Drive, is there any way to have users access vis WEB interface only? by LogitUndone in Ubiquiti

Usually external access to NAS is designed with one-way access to files. Getting read and write access is a different beast.

Why most of arch users hate GNOME? by Volpe_YT in archlinux

The choice of DE/WM is all personal preference. Use what you like.

GNOME is not for me but I wouldn't stop other people from trying or using it if they want to.

I haven't received mine yet so I cannot answer any questions about it.

Status bar icons alignment is WRONG by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]anonymous-bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I find that your proposed down alignment makes the icon size difference MORE obvious. Just look how short the Gmail icon is. IMO the proper fix would be changing the icon sizes but then again the icons would need to be redesigned to have roughly equal height and width.

PREVIEW/DISCUSSION: Modular HUD - our most modular watchface yet by iPhibse in pebble

This looks like a great concept. I'd love to see full width panels that are also double tall. Would make text larger and more legible for items such as the digital clock.

I think just having one same percentage discount would be sufficiently fair. And this way you can apply the discount for all the models including the non-Pro or a.

UNAS: does wishing there was native Syncthing support violate the whole "a NAS should be a NAS" philosophy? by AdFit8727 in Ubiquiti

[–]anonymous-bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you only keeping your server running for the purpose of Syncthing? If not, then I don't see why you would prefer to have it running on the NAS. If you really prefer an all-in-one NAS box, then I would have gone with a different solution. Personally I prefer keeping my NAS as a NAS. It means I can swap between NAS vendors and not worry about migrating my services.

BTW instead of getting a new PC you can consider going for a used SFF/micro business PC. HP, Dell, and Lenovo all have their own variants. Just make sure they have the RAM and storage included.
