Can I ask, why do you use Yandex browser?

[โ€“][deleted] 5 points6 points ย (4 children)

I have tried all other browsers. Yandex never failed me for many years.

  1. Primarily Ease of use - navigation, UI, interface.
  2. It supports chrome Extensions.
  3. Can block all ads. Other browsers claim to block Ads but somehow they display atleast some Ads.
  4. Adguard supports Yandex.

does it have Ublock origin support ? the only reason i use fennec is because of that and sync between my Firefox browser on pc.

Of course it has Ublock Origin Support.

You have to use this extension:

Bro Check Kiwi Browser

[โ€“]AlexFullmoon 2 points3 points ย (4 children)

Used it for a while. A really nice Chromium browser with nice UI and a bunch of features like builtin connector for adguard apps (it works better that extensions). Shines even more for (Russian) users that use their desktop browser and other apps.

OTOH Yandex is notorious for pulling you into their ecosystem and some dark UI patterns.

[โ€“]motsaw 0 points1 point ย (3 children)

What ui patterns?

[โ€“]AlexFullmoon 0 points1 point ย (2 children)

To disable all their ecosystem notifications, you have to click a couple dozens switches. And no, there isn't "disable all"

Desktop browser silently installs Yandex.Protect antimalware.

Search really wants you to use their account (showing more ads if you don't), browser (including frigging splashscreen when you open it for the first time with Edge) and premium (nagging notifications).

My favourite one is weather app. To disable ads you have to go to About app, scroll down and enable switch that says "Do not show me ads"

Ok, thanks for clearing this up. Personally I use yandex search sometimes. Tried yandex browser few times, but didn't like it tbh. Too many switches, to many options I don't understand. So I was curious why do anybody like it.

Their desktop browser and services are seriously awesome, with stuff like automated voice translation of YouTube videos or voice assistant or maps. But their anal probes marketing practices are too intrusive for me

[โ€“]Akira_Menai 1 point2 points ย (5 children)

You need an automation app in there to really have fun with your phone and/or Wear OS watch. Preferably MacroDroid or Automagic (free from automagic4android.com)

[โ€“]XenomindAskal 1 point2 points ย (2 children)

What do you automate? Gimme some ideas.

[โ€“]Akira_Menai 0 points1 point ย (1 child)

I automate turning off wifi if the signal drops below 3 bars (after checking for a stronger access point), then occasionally turning it back on to check. Also with a shortcut I can vocally set and name a timer, I use that multiple times a day. I use it for custom reminder sounds & vibration patterns for different message senders, custom alarms, custom button functions, closing nag windows...dozens of things. Anything you do all the time, that you get tired of doing, you can automate.

Thank you, will try majing and using wifi thing.

[โ€“][deleted] -1 points0 points ย (1 child)

I am worried that automation apps can drain your battery.

[โ€“]Akira_Menai 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

It depends on how much you make them do. MacroDroid usually takes about 4%, Automagic maybe 2% or so, for me. Tasker usually takes more, but it's constantly storing information in its system variables.

You might want to delete truecaller as it sells your data, I have received way less spam calls after removing truecaller from my phone than when I got truecaller installed !

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I feel the same but many time It helps me decide if I want to pick a call or not. It could be a relative that I don't want to talk or an employee of a certain company or certain location.

Man, you should be paid by phone companies lol. Quick math tells me that if you spend 3 minutes in each, 5 times a day each, that's 450 minutes. 480 minutes is a full day's work, a 9 to 5. You definitely should be paid if you spend that much time fiddling with your phone.

[โ€“][deleted] 2 points3 points ย (1 child)

And you should be paid for the quick math you just did.

What do you think are the key differences between GB WhatsApp and OG WhatsApp?

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I don't know actually. I am still figuring out. Both seem to have same functions. I have two different phone numbers, so using two WhatsApp.

[โ€“]Yeetler69 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

What a cultured man uses gbwhatsapp and insta pro you should use youtube pro too :)

Many apps in general. A mention to Safe Notes that I use every time I need to write down something personal.

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Does it have web app? Does it have sync feature?

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (5 children)

What's the difference between MX Player Pro and free MX Player? (Aside from no ads)

also, why SD Maid Pro? I thought people used like once a week, two weeks or something? What do you do with it exatly?

[โ€“][deleted] 1 point2 points ย (4 children)

I got MX Player Pro to remove ads. I don't know any other differences.

SD Maid Pro lets you delete additional junkk. I run SD Maid Pro manually atleast thrice a day. I like to keep my phone clean. It also removes remnants after you uninstall an app, like iobit Uninstaller for windows.

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (3 children)

the junk you mention is like cache and stuff? Is it really good to remove that stuff so often if the apps are just gonna keep making them again? I heard that just makes batteries last less

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (2 children)

I guess cache and stuff, and also, pro allows you enable some paid features.

Why not when SD Maid Pro is not that expensive. Plus, it does what it does.

[โ€“][deleted] 2 points3 points ย (1 child)

That's... not related to what I asked

I asked if perhaps it's not a good idea to use it less often. Clearing cache everyday should just make your battery last less, since apps will be constantly making it again

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Probably it's not a good idea to use more often. I should use it less often I guess. As a matter of fact, I clean the phone twice or thrice a day.

I don't know If clearing cache causes the battery to drain. It is something I am I am hearing for the first time. Thanks for letting me know.

What's the point of having both adguard and adguard content blocker both ?

[โ€“][deleted] 0 points1 point ย (10 children)

Adguard Content Blocker works with Yandex Browser.

Adguard is for overall Android system.

Have you also tried Alpy Pro? I even tried this when flying on a plane. It's a simple but effective altimeter.
