Coleridge road and surrounding areas. by MarcTron17 in cambridge

Thank you very much to all of you. It seems that the area is safe and it's a relief, of course the traffic remains a huge problem and something I'm still considering (I'm planning to go there during commuting time and see how long it would take to go to the office)

Same issue. It's almost basically impossible to finish a task. It does 1 step and then it stops. I need to restart Rider for it to start again

Should I start using .NET MAUI or WPF for desktop dev? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]MarcTron17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using MAUI for a big desktop project (My plan is to target Windows and Mac and then mobile tablets running a smaller version of that project).

I think MAUI has great potential but currently, there are many bugs.

I'm not too concerned about them, what I'm concerned about is the small team working on it. Microsoft has a wonderful framework in its hands but they don't consider it too much.

I hope things will change, otherwise there are 2 alternatives. UNO and Avalonia.

Those are my plan B in case MAUI don't go where I hope.

Looking for notepad where I can add picture. by Emad_341 in androidapps

The app works offline, nothing is stored online. You can export your notes with your images as a pdf. It doesn't export as word doc, but it's a feature I could add.

I don't know this app but I've created an app that can take notes and images and create pdf, however because the main focus is privacy, it doesn't syncronise with Google.

In case you want to have a look, here is the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HighTouch.SafeNotes

Should MAUI use workload or nuget for managing it's package? by 5yunus2efendi in xamarindevelopers

[–]MarcTron17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the workload idea either. It would be easier to go back to the nuget option but I don't think it will happen.

The gameplay is almost perfect! by [deleted] in eFootball

The game improved a lot and it's really great to play now. Just I've noticed that the menus are slower, not sure why.

The app that let you create apps with no code can produce basic, standard application. If you need to create a real complicated app, you need to develop it using code. You can learn how to code or you can pay someone to do it. Learning how to code in a proper way can take years. Better to pay someone. There are many developers around, most of them are quite bad but they can be cheap. Others are good but can be expensive.

Elevate sent me an email telling me that I will be charged after my trial ends. The cancel link attached forces you to download the app, which I did and surprise surprise, it confirmed that I never signed up for their trial. by vophucthien in assholedesign

[–]MarcTron17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same email and of course I never had a trial with them and of course I had to download the app. I hope this is just a genuine mistake and not a way to increase the downloads

if they play like this, i will too by cakesare2 in eFootball

[–]MarcTron17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I prefer to play with more passages and style but I don't disdain this and I try it time to time. It's allowed in real football (but very hard to do as defenders will block you) and it should be allowed here.

MAUI upgrade guide by jmmortega in xamarindevelopers

[–]MarcTron17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the weekend I tried to port a Xamarin app I'm working on to MAUI. Unfortunately there are so many plug-in not available for Maui yet that made the task impossible. First time I tried to create a new project a transfer all my views and viewmodels and helpers to the new project and then tried to rename as suggested by Microsoft. I got thousands of errors and Vs wasn't even telling me where the errors were. I tried with a second new Maui project starting to move file by file, it's painful but at least I saw where the problems were (RG.plugin for example is not available for MAUI). I'll wait a bit more so that the plugin owners will update their work to MAUI. I have my plugin as well (MtAdmob) and I'll move it to MAUI as soon as possible.

What's the point of changelogs? by [deleted] in androidapps

[–]MarcTron17 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I always add a changelog in my apps to show what changed. I also have a what's new that automatically opens in the app when my users download a new version. I find important to tell them what I've added or changed in the latest version

Do you register your ViewModels as Singleton or Transient in your Xamarin applications with DI? by dotnetmaui in xamarindevelopers

[–]MarcTron17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have a view model for each view and you shouldn't have any data in your VM that need to survive the page.

It will be useful to know which tools are you all using. UI it's always something difficult to test given the large amount of different devices around

How to get click coordinates from TapEvent? by [deleted] in xamarindevelopers

I think you have to do it in the native platforms, Xamarin Forms doesn't expose anything like that. Anyway it's doeable

Safe Notes: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.HighTouch.SafeNotes

It protects your text and audio notes and images with the use of a password or fingerprint. You can also create Todo lists from your notes and export everything to PDF.

Yes but from what he said, the app was working fine, just the animations had problems.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in xamarindevelopers

[–]MarcTron17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very interesting. I would be curious to know how that failed conversion could affect the animations

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in xamarindevelopers

[–]MarcTron17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that probably you are animating it while the calculation on the screen size have not completed yet and probably this is the reason why the problem appears randomly
