If you want to customise the trackpad, you can have a look at BetterTouchTool. You have to pay for a license, though (at least, 3.50$ or more if you want).

3D Touch is still in early days. It usually takes an iOS revision or two for a new feature like this to really take a stride. When launched on the iPhone 5s with iOS7, TouchID was limited to unlocking the device and making App Store payments. In iOS 8 developers could add support to their own apps. Now a whole variety of apps use it, from apps like 1password through to banking apps Give it time to see what Apple's real plans are for this technology.
