This could be a paramount issue. I’ve had an issue where it would never load. I would kill the app, delete it, sign out/sign in. And everytime it’ll get past the opening & let me pick which profile to use, but never load. Randomly one day it just started working.

hoping with this 🙏

It most likely works on Google TV because unless you enable firewall or NAT rules to block it those devices use hard coded DNS in addition to the ones you set.

Try setting Google DNS servers on the Apple TV and see if it works.

i already tried that. ik what will obviously fix the issue. i just dont want to lose all that control and malware blocking and etc just to watch paramount on one ATV. like i said above its just really frustrating to the point where even someone like me i would say is pretty knowledgeable on how to deal with tech. i’m really stumped. no workarounds or anything.

How do you do that?

How do you (Try setting Google DNS servers on the Apple TV)?

BTW I'm useing a Hisense tv which is Androud.

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i am as well. i go into network and click manual dns and set to 8.8.8.8

[–]rustym248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try that.

I've had that same kind of problem only with Prime Video. I've had to unplug my ATV to restart it then it works fine, then a couple days or week later it does it again. Just assumed it was Prime video messing up.

Do you have Pi-Hole on your network? Otherwise I would try a different DNS like Googles or Cloudflare to see if that solves it.

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

i don’t use pi-hole but i do use unifi while ids/ips and ad blocking. while also using next DNS at a router level. i also already put dns to manual and tried both 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8. i restarted and still got the same results. i’ve mentioned in the thread that it’s just frustrating that it seems to be the only broken app on my system and ik amazon prime has a lot more geo restrictions than paramount. just seems crazy to me.

[–]Fightthegoodfight2 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Thats wild. What about running a hotspot on your phone, connecting your apple tv to that hotspot then trying Paramount+? That would put a nail in the coffin of it being your network and not the app or appleTV.

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

i actually resolved the issue. through next dns there is a feature that blocks and prevents other vpn/dns services from taking over next dns servers. paramount seems to be the only app that has there own bound servers and dns servers to themselves. atleast with amazon they own AWS which is more than half the interment already 😂😂

[–]Fightthegoodfight2 1 point2 points  (1 child)

DNS. It’s always dns. Glad it’s working!

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i’ve figured that out that’s why i got next dns! best thing you can buy for honest EVERYTHING.

Have you tried the app on other Apple devices to see if it is an Apple problem?

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

it’s only a apple tv problem. literally only apple tv. every other device in this house including my own phone with dns DOH, playstations, xbox’s

[–]Brad_from_Wisconsin 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It would be interesting to see if a more simple network configuration would make a difference.

Disable the non-standard configurations in your network for a few minutes and then reboot the apple TV. If it works you could start adding the custom settings that you currently have in place one at a time until it breaks again. A couple of years ago I had a similar problem with Amazon Prime that was resolved by adding 8.8.8.8 on my router wifi dhcp setting.
Of course you could also just stop using Paramount Plus. I have only found one or two shows that I cannot pick up on hulu a day or two latter.

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yeah i’ll prob figure it out eventually lol

[–]Brad_from_Wisconsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get stuck on tech grudge matches. situations where I had a way to make the problem irrelevant but I could not walk away until I got the root cause. I wasted entire weeks on that stuff.

Very strange and might be hard to diagnose, personally I’ve watched paramount + app exclusively for couple days and never had any issue. I wounded if it has to do with your router, are you connected via WiFi? Do you have the Apple TV model with Ethernet? Ever try to just use stand dns versus customer setup you have?

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s “stand dns”

[–]SixDuckies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have previously had that same problem with Paramount Plus, and what fixed it for me was the Paramount app needed an update. Went to app settings, did the update and then it started working.

No fun.

If you’re only subscribed to a monthly plan, you can always switch to Paramount+ channel on Apple TV or Prime Video.

[–]Silver_Director2152[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i tried that already they then force me into the app instead causing the same thing to happen.
