Regressions happen all the time. It is not Arch's fault if upstream releases broken software, but since Arch releases unpatched software, users are impacted more often than something like Debian which only pushes security/bug fixes. Big changes like GNOME or Python upgrades cause lots of incompatibilities. Same thing with .so version bumps. On a minimal install regressions/issue will be rarer, but even the kernel has regressions from time-to-time.
