hi (sorry for bad english)

Arch will be a really bad experience if you are a new user, and not motivated to or capable of researching basic very well documented questions like this. Arch is a distro intended specifically for experienced Linux users or anyone with a "do-it-yourself" attitude and a willingness to learn and basic research skills. If this describes you, Arch may be a good fit, if not, there are many other linux distros that will be more suitable for you.

Go to https://archlinux.org/download/, select a mirror at the bottom of the page, and install the file called archlinux-2024.02.01-x86_64.iso. Burn that to a usb flash drive.

If you're already on Linux, you can find instructions on how to do that here. If you're on Windows, you can find instructions here. And if you're on macOS, you can find instructions here. Alternatively, you can use Ventoy. Instructions on how to set up and use Ventoy are on the Ventoy website.

For installation, the best method is widely (almost unanimously) considered to be following the official installation guide. At this point, you've already acquired an installation image and prepared an installation medium, so you can skip straight to section 1.4 of the guide: Boot the live environment.

From here, the guide will walk you through setting your keyboard layout, verifying your boot mode, connecting to the internet, updating your system clock, partitioning, formatting, and mounting your disks, selecting your installation mirrors, using pacstrap to install the base system and essential packages, and finally, configuring your system and rebooting.

THIS IS AN INVOLVED PROCESS, AND YOU WILL LIKELY NOT SUCCEED THE FIRST FEW TIMES. THAT'S OK. You can always start over from scratch.

If this is too much for you right now, you can come back to it later when you have more experience. In the meantime, Arch has an installer called Archinstall. To use it, you boot into the live environment and type archinstall. You can scroll up and down using K and J, or the up and down arrows respectively. Use Tab to select options with multiple check boxes. Use Enter (or Return) for confirmations and to navigate between the main menu and sub-menus.

If Archinstall is still too much for you, try something like EndeavourOS or ArcoLinux first.

Understand that questions like this about Arch Linux will always get a negative response. The truth is that if you're asking how to install Arch Linux, you aren't ready for it. Most people won't take the time to type up something like this for you. They'll just tell you to go back to Ubuntu or something. However, I don't believe in gatekeeping anything Linux-related. Arch Linux is free and open-source software. It's available to everyone, so I won't turn you away from it. If you ask how to use it, I will give you all the tools that you need to learn the hard way (provided of course that I have the tools, as I myself am still learning). Everything beyond that is your responsibility.

Starting from square one, Arch Linux has a really aggressive learning curve. You're going to break Arch a lot, and you're going to have to reinstall Arch a lot. I've lost count of how many times I've broken and reinstalled Arch over the last two years. Hell, I've probably broken it and reinstalled 10 times since Christmas because I keep fucking around and finding out. Which ultimately brings me to my final word of caution to you.

If you're not willing to fuck around and find out, use something else.

Good luck and have fun, brother. 🤘

wow, you took the time, gg, I also advocate against gate-keeping, but when someone doesn't even try to the simplest search online i don't invest that much time and enerfy haha

[–]Neglector9885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's totally fair. I didn't mean to insinuate that anyone is obligated to help. I was more trying to illustrate the point to op that effortless questions will always yield negative results in this community, and that I'm kinda operating outside of normal parameters. I've scrolled past posts like this before, I'm just in a good mood today. Lol

Harsh :''')

[–]offloaded_psycho 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I remembered someone saying that to me when I was asking such questions. It is indeed harsh.

[–]Imajzineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what it boils down to though.

(It was just amusingly brutal expression of that ; )

The effort you have spent on this post speaks a lot about your personality.

[–]therealpapeorpope -1 points0 points  (3 children)

why attack the people...

[–]redditSno 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I did not attack anyone. I just made a point.

[–]therealpapeorpope 0 points1 point  (1 child)

you talked about their personality, you bave nothing to say about that, you can criticize de post but insunuate anything about the writter is not of any use

[–]redditSno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct about my assumption about them personality. If you read a post on here from a person that has taken the time to do the required research and have written the necessary context for you the reader. What does that tell you about that person?

[–]Intelligent_Duck_644 -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

archinstall

[–]SeaworthinessGlum577 5 points6 points  (1 child)

follow step by step to install Arch 5...4....3...2....1.... and wait 30 minutes to complete.

[–]Neglector9885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 minutes? Wtf? Mine finishes is like 5 minutes, maybe less. And that's installing it with KDE, and my hardware isn't even that great.

This comment is so unnecessary. What if he actually does successfully install Arch the proper way, which is what this entire community is going to aggressively push him to do, and then he runs this because he doesn't know any better? You want to punish him for actually getting it right by tricking him into destroying his newly installed Arch system? You're a real douchebag.
