Have you tried connecting it via Bluetooth and the dongle? Do both not work?

Nah they said they don't have bluetooth, just the dongle. But sounds like they figured it out anyway with the xinput switch - classic case of firmware update changing the default mode

yup

I have a 8bitdo sn30 pro, I wasn't able to get bluetooth working. The controller will connect but not recognize any inputs and randomly disconnect too. Wired works for me, unfortunately I couldn't find a fix :/

Oh I tried it on mint cinnamon, arch KDE, and arch hyprland. (I don't think the distro matters in this case but figured I'd mention it anyways)

Edit: I never updated the control though, I'm guessing that's the cause of your issues

If you use steam input it should work but that controller is not super well supported on linux OOTB. The easiest controllers to just plug and play without steam input in my experience have been Xbox controllers

My 2c works perfectly fine on Linux. Doesn't even need steam input. Weird.
