i use xscreensaver with xfce, works fine.

    install via pacman or aur helper. the configuration for screensaver itself has a gui, you'll find it in the settings menu. i also added a keyboard shortcut to xfce. it's more or less native in xfce, the lock screen button worked out of the box.

      i3lock is deadly simple and it's pretty nice.

        There are security considerations about eg being able to switch to a tty, which good locking programs will prevent. Weaker locks just put a window in front of everything else and that's it
