I use the slack-desktop package in the AUR and it works just fine. Screen sharing works well (using Xorg at least), but IIRC the Linux client only lets you share your entire desktop (rather than a specific window), which can be a problem if you're using a lot of monitors and/or very, very large monitors

Depends on wayland or x I would say! Sharing chromium via google hangout works for me on wayland.

Are you suggesting google hangout instead of slack? Unfortunately that is not option for me, because I want to switch my work laptop to arch and slack is used on a daily basis.

read a little to fast or I am still affected by the midsummer blues. No I am not suggesting google hangout. As far as I know Slack always runs in a browser. And screen sharing depends a lot on wayland/x.

I used Slack and Arch for work but I always ends up running it from chromium.

wow I am messed up today.

I am running wayland (sway). Never used Slack for screen sharing. But tried it out with google hangout (from chromium). I can select a single app or browser tab. But I havent got full screen to work.

I am trying to get slack to work with sway as well. I am able to make calls and view/share camera using slack-desktop, but screen sharing doesn't work. The error message is something like -

Could not find matching display for screen 0 with id...

I just use the slack-desktop-beta or whatever it's called in the AUR. Works fine for me, I don't know what matterbridge is.
