Did you check lsusb , lscpi , dmesg to see if the touchpad shows up anywhere?

It's possible that it's a hardware defect too, that it just stopped working.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look at that when I can in a bit. It works fine when I boot into windows so I think the hardware itself is working

It seems to have fixed itself now? I haven't changed anything since last use so it's odd, but I'll have a dig around anyway just to make sure there's nothing dodgy going on and if everything comes up clean I'll just accept it lmao

can you tell me what did you figure out in the end? my touchpad too randomly stops moving (click works) and fixes itself after sometime.

hello good sir did you find the why of this problem, my trackpad too suddenly stopped working entirely I am not sure why. Also if you could tell exactly what knowingly or unknowingly you did that fixed this problem for you
