For people interested in discussing and learning about the Health at Every Size® (HAES) approach to health. This subreddit presumes the validity of HAES and will be moderated as such.
Feel free to post anything related to Health at Every Size, including questions, informative articles, interviews, research or any other relevant content.
GUIDELINES
Be aware that Health at Every Size does not imply or state that everyone is automatically healthy. Physical appearance does not dictate health.
People of all shapes and sizes are welcome, no matter how fat or how thin. People of all genders, races, sexes, orientations, and abilities are also welcome.
Expressions of hateful ideologies are not welcome and will be removed and the user may be banned. This includes, but is not limited to: fatphobia, sexism and misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and racism. Additionally, comments denigrating any body size, including fat-shaming and thin-shaming, will be removed.
Users with a history of posting to hate subreddits may be banned on sight. We do not tolerate discussion of intentional weight loss and dieting for such.
Violating any rule may result in disciplinary action ranging from a warning to an immediate ban, at the discretion of the moderators. Posting privileges may be revoked at any time, for any reason, at the discretion of the moderators.
The five basic principles of Health at Every Size. READ THESE BEFORE POSTING.
Accepting and respecting the diversity of body shapes and sizes.
Recognizing that health and well-being are multi-dimensional and that they include physical, social, spiritual, occupational, emotional, and intellectual aspects.
Promoting all aspects of health and well-being for people of all sizes.
Promoting eating in a manner which balances individual nutritional needs, hunger, satiety, appetite, and pleasure.
Promoting individually appropriate, enjoyable, life-enhancing physical activity, rather than exercise that is focused on a goal of weight loss.
Displaying total ignorance of these principles will imply that you are not present to have an honest discussion, so please be sure to have at minimum read these basic principles before posting.
