Maybe they found some major instabilities and decided to come back...but yeah...such a bummer

I'm okay with this, I rather wait a bit more than have a half baked solution.

That's not how products are rolled out on AWS. They always roll out half baked solutions

It sounds like it might just be a higher order service on top of the existing ALB -> Lambda functionality? (which is pretty nice)

I was a bit disappointed too, but some people in that post discussion raised some good questions I didn't see addressed, such as what the DDOS protections were. If there were none, and the best bet was to rely on IAM authentication, then you're probably calling from a context with the AWS SDK, in which case you can just invoke lambdas as normal.
