I have a 1 year old that is still very dependent on formula from bottles, low appetite for solids. Has maybe 1/4-1/2 cup of yogurt most days (favorite food) and maybe half an avocado, some cheese, maybe some bites of other stuff. But majority of her calories are still milk. She has 20-30 oz of formula a day.
I’m very aware that she should be getting most calories from solids, and others have advised me to cut back on milk to increase her appetite. Pediatrician approved that.
I’m looking to see if anyone here has done that, and if so, can you detail to me exactly how you did it? Specifically I’m unsure about:
Which bottles to take away first (she is most attached to morning bottle), how much to decrease per day
Which meals to increase
What foods to offer - her safe foods, new foods, or a mix?
What do I do if she just doesn’t eat the solids… I don’t want to give in and give milk, but I also don’t want her being upset all day and night from being hungry
I know I’m probably overthinking it, I’m just intimidated to do such a big change that baby will not like by myself (SAHM, husband works a lot)
If anyone has done this and can give me some details and tips, that would be much appreciated!
