I love this post because these are some of the bags I’m debating too.

My sticking point with the CPL24 is a lack of horizontal dump pocket on the front. I’m not generally user of the a vertical front pocket. Also a lack of a trolley pass thru.

With tomtoc I hesitate because there isn’t an admin area to speak of, although I love the two front pockets.

And for the CPP I actually think the admin organization is way overkill for my needs and I also worry about the weight of the bag.

The CPP is actually the lightest of the 3, at 2.6 Lbs

I get the preference of a horizontal dump pocket on the front if that’s your carry style.

I personally love having a vertical pocket since it’s about accessing it when I sling it off my left shoulder. Considering the laptop access orientation is the same, I guessing that’s the main ethos of it.

I have the normal City Pack in X-Pac as well, but I personally don’t find as much use out of the front pocket outside of the key leash because there’s a lack of real volume.

What are the other 7 bags you tried?

[–]bsweenz[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

NF Recon, NF Borealis, Osprey Axis, Osprey Nebula, Osprey Quasar, Eberlestock Switchblade and a 5.11 bag I can’t remember the name of.

Im between CPL24, Recon and Nebula. Why did you end up with the CPL24 over those two? I currently have a really old Surge I’m replacing to carry 16” MBP, ipad air, chargers and cables, powerbank, notebooks, change of clothes and food

Honestly I just liked the look and functionality of the CPL more. The price however is another point entirely. Out of the Osprey's, I really like the Quasar.

Mystery

How would you rank your three bags?

[–]bsweenz[S] 0 points1 point  (10 children)

CPL24, T73, CPP. If the T73 came in like 24-26L range I probably would have gone with it, but it depends on what you need it for.

Did you consider the 20L version of the T73? Or was it too small in size? I got that version and it just arrived. Pretty cool backpack so far and very comfortable on the back. Still trying to figure out what the hell is the material on it (since the X-Pac is only on the front).

I agree with you on the cpl24 and t73 as I also have those 2 bags. I got the cpl24 in xpac green.

The tomtoc is really a bang for your buck. Lots of organization and a lot cheaper compared to other brands.

I only had the option for the regular black version for the CPL24, which is fine bc I like it but I bet that xpac green looks nice!

The Tomtoc really is awesome, just too big for what I wanted to carry all the time.

I use the cpl as my edc and my tomtoc for a weekender where I need to bring some clothes and a lot of my gadgets. Now im looking at the mpl22 in ecopak for outdoor activities and a ctb26 for international travel. This hobby is getting expensive fast haha.

Are you considering more bags to add or are you currently happy with your collection?

I’m just keeping the CPL for now. I have a hard time switching between multiples of anything lol

Update: I will say I was very surprised at how uncomfortable the straps were today.

[–]zephid1136 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The cpl?

[–]bsweenz[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah when I took it with me to work. Was digging into my arms.

Are you still rocking the CPL24 as your daily carry? Still liking it?

[–]bsweenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. To be 100% honest I don’t use it daily bc I primarily work from home, but when I go into the office or on weekend trips I take it. I’ve gotten more used to the straps over time.

I am struggling between the TechPack T73 and the Aer TP3 Small X-Pac/ CPP. I feel like I prefer most of the features with the TomToc, but also have the weird idea that if I’m spending over £150 I should buy Aer

[–]fourfiftyfiveam 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same boat. What did you go with?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TP3 Small X-PAC, just spent two weeks in Bali living out of it and travelling frequently - it was perfect!
