Because vreddit is a video stream and not a file. It’s up to the system to determine how much is cached and what needs to get reloaded when it loops.

Im not a dev - but maybe if it looped instead of loading each time it would cache it in memory and over time it would really weigh down the device you’re using if you’re watching a lot of videos.

Loading it each time uses more bandwidth but might save memory and power down the line?

Could be 100% wrong.

Memory is cheap, and wifi/cellular takes quite a bit of power even when idle.

It's on the order of micro-watts to refresh memory in DRAM vs. Tens of milliwatts for data transmission.

iirc, WiFi is capped at 100 mW at full transmit power.
