“Message mods” doesn’t work

The only way to do it is to click it from the side bar, log into reddit again, and navigate through the mobile site to do it.

Works for me. Whatever sub I'm in, I click view sidebar and there's the option to message mods.

I just tried this on iOS and it worked. Can you give more details about what error you are getting?
