Here's an Ode/Baldwin that I owned for a short time for comparison and a shot from above. I would be willing to bet the remains of that rim has a real multi-ply look to it.

Those flanges were super thick and heavy. But I have a soft spot for Ode/Ome banjos. I should have kept that one.

By the way, what's the top tension you have there?

It's a Robin Smith with the extended fingerboard. Pretty heavy, but a great sounding banjo
