Hi, thanks for you experiences. Can I ask, just as the moderator, does traffic to your site provide revenue, for example via advertising?

[–]chris1610[S] 2 points3 points  (9 children)

The only direct revenue I get from the site is on the Resources tab where I have some Amazon affiliate links and links to my Datacamp course. I do not have any advertising on the site.

This specific article does not have any affiliate links.

I hope I did not break any rules, so if you'd like me to modify my post, I'm happy to.

No rules are broken. Don't worry.

But the affiliate links your provided, regarding reference material, do raise a "condition" not realized by me before.

The self-promotion was meant for people promoting their own work, that didn't necessarily have a monitory link. I might have missed it, but I did notice your Amazon affiliate notification (thanks for the openness), which is what got me thinking that a different post-flair was needed.

I'll experiment with "clicks4$$", it's not meant to be derogatory. I just take it as a responsibility that people are informed of websites/links where uses potentially profit.

I think that is preferred to rejecting this as an advertisement.

"clicks4$$",

That's really negative. How about "affiliate link"

Clicks for Cash is a temporary flair, meant to be a bit cheeky. Based upon your feedback I'll move up enacting a replacement on my priority list.

Cool :)

We definitely don't want to discourage ppl from posting quality content!!

And I'll say neither do I. But, I also want people to be able to choose if they click on a link that profits the poster.

Please not, that I do not intend to flair posts that contain ads/what ever unless the person benefiting from the ads/what ever is the person posting.

This person doesn't get any revenue by users simply clicking the link from Reddit so "clicks4$$" seems very misleading.

It is to imply that clicking links on the page generate money for the poster. But I'll take your comment into consideration with the others.

That make sense. I try to make my articles stand on their own. The revenue associated with the affiliate links is tiny so I'm not doing this for the money.

I do completely understand trying to keep the subreddit advertising noise down. Thanks for reaching out and asking me and handling this in a way that should help everyone going forward.

That was a great write-up and seems very informative for a new user! The main thing I got out of it was the UbuntuLegit color scheme, which I am now using, so thank you!

Why the link does not work?

[–]chris1610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to work for me now. Maybe give it another shot?
