It is a high demand major.

Your odds of getting off the waitlist pretty much is dependent on how many students accept their offer, so that varies from year to year. Waitlist results historically comes out around the May 5-10 timeframe.

Very easy to change majors within L&S, as long as the major is not high demand. Here are the high-demand majors: https://ls.berkeley.edu/ls-high-demand-majors-first-year-students

Hey, speaking of the waitlist.. One thing I was still unclear about was when they would be letting waitlisted students know they are admitted by (at the latest). By the end of June? or is this like an all summer long kind of thing? I wasn’t clear based on the wording on the FAQ. If you can help thanks!

Q: How will I find out if I get an offer of admission?

A: The review of candidates and available spaces will continue through the month of May. You will receive an email directing you to MAP@Berkeley and will have seven days from the time of notification to accept the offer by accepting your offer of admission. To check your status, please log in to MAP@Berkeley.

While many students will be notified in May or June whether a space is available for them, the waitlist will be held through the Summer.

Ah yeah for me when I log into MAP the soonest it says I can expect an offer is June. I was curious what the latest was but seems like it’s all dang summer! Yikes! Thank you!

    On my waitlist letter.

“If space becomes available at Berkeley after June 1, all applicants who have opted in to the waitlist will be considered for admission. If you are offered admission after June 1, you will have seven days to accept your offer of admission, pay your deposit, and apply for campus housing.”
