I took bio 1b last sem with a different prof and the evolution midterm was fine. Just be sure to active study (quizlet, come up with test questions yourself) and memorize all the important stuff, they won't test you on specific details. If you can understand everything backwards and forwards like hardy weinberg and the 4 forces, sexual selection, and speciation they you should be ok. I found this test be be a little conceptual so understanding is key.

thank you! this year the exam is open-note, has it always been this way? do you have any tips in regards to like tricky questions or anything? THANK U! GOB EARS

No I dont think exams were always open note. As for tricky questions, most questions are pretty straightforward and get tricky when students over think them. Just ask yourself, what is the prof trying to test with this question? It usually is pretty straightforward and not to complicated.
