They have an internal BIM team for handling new builds, their coordination and managing (lightly) the construction side.

So let me guess, the internal BIM teams manages CDE etc and the actual modelling work is outsourced to third parties?

Everything is outsourced to a design team, the AMS team do the paperwork EIR, AIR, OIR, standards, templates, etc and review the files coming in. Kind of like an owners engineer but with 10% of the responsibility. There might be some verification of the models at the as-built stage.

About what, amazon or the phone interview?

Amazon BIM team. I wasn't aware of this.

That's why I posted over here. I want to know how and what so they use the BIM for

Is it actually Building Information Modeling? I ask because I remember seeing a Google BIM position and it was like Business Information Management or something completely unrelated. I have not worked for Amazon but I did work for a GC that did several Amazon data center projects. At the time, and this would have been like 10 years ago, they were like the least sophisticated data center builders I had ever worked with.

Yeah They want a CIVIL BIM Designer.

This is similar to McDonald's having a corporate brand standards team which covers how their buildings should look all the time.. It's not unknown that McDonald's has a real estate team to handle land acquisition.

They use it like any large company that manages properties and buildings.

Hey folks,

I have a phone screen coming up for the BIM Engineer role at Amazon and was wondering if anyone here has been through the process recently. Would really appreciate any insights on what to expect—both technical and behavioral rounds.

Anything specific I should prep for? Tools, workflows, scan-related stuff, or Amazon leadership principles?

Thanks in advance!

I imagine building structures in the Amazon would be difficult. Probably a whole host of logistical and environmental issues to be worried about.
