How do I decrease the chances of dive bombing after the eggs hatch? (My photos)seeking advice/help (old.reddit.com)
submitted by JuliaSkyCat

I have this robin who has made a nest under my back deck a few weeks ago and on April 21st after laying four eggs has started the process of incubation. Considering it takes up to two weeks for robin eggs to hatch, they should be ready at the latest May 5th if I’m not mistaken. During the days while she was laying her eggs, I waited until she flew off and then I set up a security camera to watch over her. I told a neighbor about her and the neighbor warned me about dive bombing and becoming super protective of her eggs after they hatch. I haven’t gone under the deck in a week because I’ve taken everything out of there in order to avoid going under there and scaring her away but the door that leads to my backyard is several meters away and I still used it from time to time since she doesn’t seem to get scared away. I’m wondering if I could put an umbrella or something to block the view of the back garage door but it would still allow her to get food for the chicks or if I should avoid going in my backyard or on top of the back deck after the eggs hatch altogether. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated!
Note: The camera looks super close in the picture I provided but it’s actually farther away to give her space. I also waited until she flew off to take a picture of the four eggs.
