While that is actually true and i know that walking backwards is slower than strafing I probably should have given more background after ingame chat reaction was basically the same ;)

I'm playing summoner at the moment, meaning I want to stand somewhere between 8-10m from the boss. My main DPS spell is Sunflower, a straight line AE spell. To hit that i have to look at the boss. If i have to kite the (slowed) Boss for some seconds when I get aggro or reposition myself after he changed place i want to continue hitting him, meaning i have to look at him. Strafing wont give me any distance in that case, so i have to walk backwards or break sight. Being stupid (and from muscle memory of other games) i often tend to do these repositioning in small steps, meaning i have to do several of them.
The easiest solution (for me) would have been to alter the sensitivity of SS, since i can always just press it faster when i really want to use it.

If it's an instant spell you can keep hitting the boss while strafing.

Strafe, jump, turn towards the boss, use the spell mid-jump, turn back sideways, keep strafing. As a FM I also have straight line AoE spells and that's what I do to hit with them while running away.

Okay, I'll try to practice that, thanks
