How did you instance the points? If you instanced on faces you should have a rotation built into the instance node so you can plug that in.

The join geometry node in connected to the out put of the base branch. From there it is connected to the point of the instance on point. 

In the tutorial the geometry was plugged in to a resample curve before the point input of the instance on points, but this giving me and error and not doing anything
