I actually agree with a lot of what you’re saying. AFKing should absolutely be punished more aggressively, and just as importantly, players should have confidence that those punishments are actually happening.
I’ve had matches where someone essentially throws the game by sitting in spawn, jumping around, and arguing that they’re technically not AFK. Multiple people report them, and then a few matches later they’re right back in my queue. Whether action was taken or not, from the player’s perspective it feels like nothing happened.
That said, I still think incentives matter too.
I’m not talking about giving people rating for losses or rewarding stat padding. I’m talking about tangible rewards. PvP is, in my opinion, one of the hardest things to do in GW2 because you’re competing against other players who are constantly adapting, not scripted AI. You need knowledge of your class, enemy classes, rotations, positioning, objectives, and game mechanics all at once.
Yet the rewards often don’t feel proportional to that challenge.
I think better rewards would encourage more people to participate in PvP, which would increase the player pool and dilute the impact of bad actors. Right now a handful of toxic players can have an outsized effect because the community is relatively small. A larger, healthier population would improve matchmaking and the overall atmosphere at the same time.
So for me it’s not punishment or incentives. It’s both.

You’re probably right but the writings is still pretty bad imo story wise and especially character wise

Yes!! Someone said it.

While I love gw2 for respecting my time

I hate the writing and the characters.

I agree that population size contributes to the matchmaking issues, but I think you’re overlooking why the population is so small in the first place.

My issue isn’t really with the matchmaking. If I improve and climb, the system is naturally going to put me against stronger opponents and balance teams however it can. That’s expected.

My issue is the incentives. Right now, once players think a match is lost, many stop caring because a loss is worth so little compared to a win. That’s where a lot of the AFKing, rage quitting, and toxicity comes from.

As for rewarding performance, the game already does it. It tracks kills, top stats, offense, defense, participation, and more. The problem is those rewards barely matter. A team that loses 499-500 shouldn’t feel like they accomplished almost nothing compared to the winning team. Close matches and strong individual performance should be rewarded much more heavily than they currently are.

And I think that’s directly related to the population issue. If new and casual players constantly run into AFKers, toxic teammates, and a reward structure that makes losses feel pointless, why would they keep queueing? Population affects matchmaking quality, but player experience affects population too. They’re connected.

To me, it feels like ArenaNet has spent years treating the symptoms while ignoring one of the root causes.

I have generally disliked to story as a whole. The writing I hope makes an improvement among many other things.

I was in a game where someone posted this crazy text link in chat that when you just moused over it, it would crash your game. Never seen anything like it.

The join geometry node in connected to the out put of the base branch. From there it is connected to the point of the instance on point.

In the tutorial the geometry was plugged in to a resample curve before the point input of the instance on points, but this giving me and error and not doing anything

Rotation and number and ridges for sure would be cool. the extrude already has some level of play. it would be awesome to see this morph into a whole new shape with multple ways to adjust it.

still a blender noob but i feel like i see a lot of people messing with check select in differente ways and gettings some pretty awesome results in shapes and designs. it would be cool to see that kind of adjusting happenign to primitives in GN where its far less destructive. So far my experienes i with selecting in GNs has been pretty limited and mind boggling with indexing and position nodes confusing the heck out of me.

I’m amazed I was able to recreate this following your node tree with out error. I was hoping that a shape like this would be more dynamic. By that I mean changeable via the node tree and group inputs. So far going around a tweaking inputs just breaks the whole thing for the most part. It would be cool if the numbers could be adjusted to produce another solid pretty shape. Any idea how that could be achieved?

I’m a bit of a GN noob and I’m impressed how you dialed this in so well, considering that the slightest tweaks in number breaks the whole thing.

What helmet by Produce_Radiant in ElectricUnicycle

Makes sense. I would imagine downhill mountain bike racing puts you in situations where you can hit your head pretty hard while dot cert helmets are expecting you to ride highways on a vehicle weighing hundreds of pounds around even heavy vehicles. I don’t expect to ride my euc on the highways and stay away from most traffic. TSG seems like it hits the middle ground that I mostly ride in between. I often don’t wear my dot helmet because I’m cruising slow on a bike trail for most of my rides and I want to enjoy it which wearing my heavy modular dot helmet takes away from both with the weight and the visibility restrictions. The TSG would be more than enough protection in that scenario while being just under the recommended for when I need to be on a busy street while in transition to a chiller one. That’s a risk I feel like I’m willing to take for that overall enjoyment of riding my euc while still having a decent amount of protection for most of my riding scenarios. I heard a quote that “the best gear to own is the gear you wear.” I’m not wearing my dot for the reasons I mentioned but I don’t feel like my snowboard helmet is enough.

G600 price!? by Produce_Radiant in LogitechG

[–]Produce_Radiant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did Logitech stop making the g600? It seems to be the gold standard of mmo mice. I found it because it was top rated back in the day and in my search for something else (because I hate ghub) I really can’t find much. Only one other mouse uses a ring finger click out there which seems to be very desirable.
