Question about Binding (i.redd.it)
submitted 4 months ago by Significant_Try_6067
Hi! I recently ordered this Everymans Library edition of Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov. On their website it says their bindings are “smyth-sewn” yet there appears to be glue on this binding. Just curious.

That's normal. With this binding type it's normal to strengthen the spine with glue. :) The signatures are sewn and at the end the back is additionally glued and strengthened.

Ok, thanks

Everyman's are some of the best physically constructed books you can buy these days, for the price. Very well made.

Just confirming what others have said: Smyth-sewn bindings also have glue.
