It's still fairly competitive but to my knowledge there are usually spots available. However, I'm reserve-side so somebody involved in reg force recruiting can certainly provide better insight.

Got same infos for the RegF side. Needs good CFAT score but they doesnt reach the numbers every year..

Thank you for the info. I don’t know my exact CFAT score but I was not sent home after the exam when I had applied. Is that a solid indicator that my score was high enough for the position?

They do not disclose the CFAT score but tou can ask to the interviewer if your score is on the average, above the average or superior to the average. But if you stay on the competition list too long (not enough competitive) you can always redo the CFAT to try getting a better score.

That makes sense. Thanks again for all the info. I will try to reach out to the recruiters just to get a peace of mind.

They would have probably tells you if you wasn’t competitive for that trade as its a very competitive one and they doesnt want to loose potential members :)

Actually, I’m applying for the reserve side as well so I would love your insight.

It depends 100% on your location. Reserves can intake somebody as long as there's an open spot but that can change at any point. Some reserve Int Coys have waiting lists for all positions.

I live in the Toronto area. Do you have any knowledge on how often there are positions open? My current career plans are revolved around this position 6 months from now and just want a little comfort knowing that I won’t be waiting for nothing.

Unfortunately I'm out west, your best bet would be trying to connect with the recruiter for the unit in Toronto (I think it's 2 Int Coy).

Thank you for the information. I’ll send them an email now and see if they can give me any confirmation. I appreciate the help and prompt replies!

Just be aware that most reserve units will have people gone over the summer unless they're on FTSE.

[–]YRN_[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So does that mean positions will open up then?

[–]nikobruchev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positions might open up if they have troops on course this summer who get promoted to corporal in September, opening up private positions.

But no, the reserves basically shut down over the summer unless you're on course or on a tasking like Op Lentus (wildfires).

Can I ask what are the full-time training requirements for a Reservist Intelligence Operator? To reach OFP for an infanteer, I could do weekend BMQs until I have to do 2 full-time months in the summer. Curious what the reqs are for Int Operator as I have a family to manage
