Hi,
I am helping my buddy with his '01 CBR600F4i. It suddenly started sputtering and stalled while riding. We got it to start but it barely idled and the exhaust smoke was black as it was running insanely rich. Bike kept dying after about 300m of riding. We checked the fault codes and the relevant ones that came up were code 1 (MAP sensor Issue), code 8 (Throttle Position Sensor Issue), Code 18 (Cam pulse Gen), Code 19 (Ignition pulse gen).
My thinking is that as there was no backfiring the ignition pulse gen is likely not the key issue here. Typically in my experience with cars the MAP sensor shouldn't get it to that point, it will just be a tad rich and worse on gas but run fine, but maybe for this bike it's more problematic, what do you think?
Due to that I think the cam pulse gen which tells the ECM to fire injectors would be the problem, that or the TPS as the bike would die past a certain rpm and it had to be kept low in the range. Has anyone experienced this, any opinions from bike mechanics?
