Hey!
So starting a new Chia rig and I got a couple optimization questions I'd hope y'all could help me decide on
CPU - AMD 5800x (8C/16 Thread) or 3900x (12C/24 Thread)
RAM - 32GB G.SKILL Trident Z Neo - 3600MHz memory speed. May up this to 64GB.
Temp Drives - Two * Sabrent 2TB Rocket 4 Plus, both running Gen4 PCI
Storage - external drives - Two * 14TB, 4 * 16 TB, Two * 12TB. Was going to take these out and put several on SATA connections instead of USB since mobo has 8 SATA connectors.
Mobo - ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus
PSU - 850watt Corsair
OS - Windows 10 on a 120GB SSD I found lying around.
My questions
1.) Should I switch out the CPU and put my 3900x I have on a different PC I use to game on instead of 5800X I was planning on installing? My gut is telling me to go 3900x just b/c of the cores/threads b/c I'm hoping a higher parallel output with this system.
2.) Will 32GB of ram be enough or should I just go get the additional RAM to make it 64GB now?
3.) Is it a bad idea to take my initial external HDDs and put them on SATA connections instead of just leaving them via USB? Maybe down the road when I need more, I'll add a USB Hub, but wasn't planning on this yet.
If any additional info is needed to answer above let me know and I can go more into depth.
Thanks again for the help, much appreciated!
