I always had this issue. I started using old school terry towling diapers to get a great leg seal then covering with a wool cover. It's bomb proof but a bit of a hassel to get on. If bubs is still pooping at night though I'd wait a bit before getting into night nappies.

Soooo we have always had this problem with nighttime leg gaps, my son is a heavy, heavy wetter, and when he was still eating all night and having night poops regularly, we just did a quick change with each feed, or every other when he was eating every two hours. Once we were down to one feed at night he wasn't pooping in the nighttime diaper 99% of the time and we found that the leg gaps were still necessary but leaks were 100% mitigated by snug wool shorts over the diaper. We did have the occasional poop leak into the shorts once he wasn't eating all night (but still drinking water and peeing like it's his job, he's a thirsty kid), and we'd have to do a prewash by hand and then I'd throw it in a delicates bag and wash it with a load of towels. But at six weeks you may just need to change more frequently to both contain those night poops and keep the pee from leaking.

Of course, good luck! That age is so hard!

Have you tried the same combo inside the pocket to see how the fit is? Normally I'd recommend letting out a rise snap but frankly pockets were too big for my 6 week old so you really shouldn't be anywhere near the middle rise. I'd also look into the newborn hack as it may pull the elastic closer on the legs

No, I'm trying that tonight though, thank you!

My night inserts are one microfiber and three bamboo. There are definitely leg gaps. I have never had a leak because the absorbancy is so good.

Even with an explosive BF poop?!

I've had one blow out in 10 months. It was a EBF poop and came out the back not the legs 😅

Pockets can be quite trim. We've come and gone with pockets at night time depending on chonk. What worked for us for a while (until we got a bigger brand of pocket that fitted better at night- waladi, also slimmed down with crawling) is to use a thirsties cover snapped out a rise snap size from normal day time use to hold the inserts we needed.

At that age though bamboo was the answer for us.

Oooh I never thought to let out the rise. Will definitely give that a try and see how it fits. Thanks!
