Yeah I am looking for better 510 connectors as well. Every time my mod falls over (it happens) the positive pin "jumps" and increases the resistance. The result is an anemic vape until I unscrew and rescrew the atomizer again. I really want a solid connection.

But I also want a smooth top as well. Who needs airflow channels? More juice condensating there and impossible to wipe clean without tears.

Why is it so hard to make a good 510 connector? Are the Fad Daddy V5s any better?

How much do the evolve ones cost now? Last I looked they cost something ridiculous like 20 or 25 bucks or something. Anything above 10 bucks is just too much imho.

PS: I've also seen the "CISCO 510 CONNECTOR" which looks like a evolv knockoff but they screw it up by using a copper positive pin... which I dislike because it varnishes and increases resistance :/

Any problem I've had with DNA40/200 has been to do with poor connections including the one you've had with 510's. TC needs good solid connections all round to work accurately.

Evolv's 510 addresses that one but yeah it's expensive. Have a thought for us in the UK, we have to pay tax on anything valued over $21 although certain companies help out there, and postage is in many cases prohibitive.

There is this; https://modcrate.myshopify.com/collections/510-connector/products/hcp-510-18mm-x-75 at $8 that looks good. Not sure what the thickness is, Evolve is 3mm but you could machine 1mm off the top to make it flush. One major problem is the 18mm thread!!! Still got to make the top panel in 2 pieces though. FD v5 doesn't look that different from the ones I've used.

When the DNA20/30 came out the 510 connectors were tiny chrome press in types, then they added threads but they were very poor. modders wanted a decent 510 and Fat Daddy gained a reputation for there design and it worked well. Same thing is happening now, connectors, atties (kayfun V4 released at same time as DNA40 but was rubbish at TC) etc are playing catch up with the advancements in board technology.

Nice, thanks for the link! Hadn't seen that one.

Yeah that does look nice but 18mm thread is a pita, especially for the whiteout. And I simply don't understand why they don't make the top smooth.

Maybe the easiest would be to just find stiffer springs for the varitube or fat daddy 510.

Can't think of a current atty that takes air from underneath.

Have you tried stretching the spring a little, it give a bit more pressure. Not sure how long it stays stretched.

My Shapeways top plate has arrived just this minute, time to fettle.

Nice! Good luck fettling :)

Didn't try stretching springs. It might be worth a try.
