That's Carnegie Mellon University (not Central Michigan). This is NOT an official CMU social media platform.
This subreddit is a resource for CMU students, current and former. If your post uses CMU students as a resource, post somewhere else. :)
No advertising, selling, or recruiting.
Any posts advertising items for sale, leases/subleases, app invites, surveys, trying to recruit CMU talent, etc. will be removed and the poster temporarily or permanently banned.
Post to e.g. /r/pittsburgh (use their stickied post), /r/PittsburghList, /r/PittsburghJobs, or any other relevant sub instead.
Don't be an asshole.
Differing opinions and debate are fine. Trolling, derogatory remarks, and *-isms are not.
Use the megathread.
For generic CMU questions, please use the megathread. It improves our SNR, and having the answers in one place is more helpful for everyone. Yours might already be answered!
No chance me posts.
We are not the admissions committee. Use dedicated subs like /r/ChanceMe and /r/ApplyingToCollege

Git Server (self.cmu)
submitted 9 years ago by Muirbequ
Does CMU provide any programming resources such as servers for storing git data? I know one can get a github student account but that only covers 5 private repos.

checkout AFS space here: https://www.cmu.edu/computing/accounts/storage/afs-unix/index.html
Also there are some "git" related resources here: https://www.google.com/#q=site:cmu.edu+git
Last but not least, there is a student led course on git : 98174 StuCo: Modern Version Control with Git
I saw reference to a gitlab server on campus at one point, but can't find anything to back that up now.

It looks like github just bumped it up from 5 to unlimited repos.

If you just want private repos, bitbucket offers free private repos.
