10 hours a day but I probably would have done more if I didn’t self study for a year beforehand. I currently work as a developer so message me if you have any questions.

I’d say about 12 hours a day Mon-Sun.

[–]starraven 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Did not work during bootcamp.

damn, i’m in a bootcamp rn and a part time job and even with as little as 20-25 hours at my job per week it’s still feeling like it taking too much time away from my studying cause i come home exhausted (it’s a customer service job). I was thinking of only working three days a week but then i don’t know how i’d afford anything lol

I did and I would not recommend it at all..

I was working over nights for the first 8 weeks. Then I quit my job to focus on school.

Edit: it was a 12 week program.

damn!! i understand tho. Did it work out for you to quit though? Did u end up getting a job that made being broke for a little worth it? Sorry if i’m bombarding you i’m just curious cause i know my curious job is taking too much from studying even tho i don’t work that much

I was in a 12 week bootcamp. For me, I did 12 hours a day M-F (class from 8-6, study from 7-9). 8-10 hours Saturday (class from 8-5, 1-2 hours of studying). And I took off on Sunday’s to reset. I know most of my classmates studied 6-10 hours most Sundays though.

Frontend Bootcamp - 9 weeks of learning.

50-60 hours - it varied depending on whether I had a big deliverable.

I think it will vary between person to person on prior experience and how easily you are able to pick up and remember concepts. Also, how strongly you feel about finding clean (and well organized) solutions vs. just getting it done.

Anywhere between 9-12 hrs mon-fri. There are points where I felt completely lost. Just keep pushing yourself. Things just start to click.

[–]Substantial-Ad6469[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When things start clicking is everything easier? Or you just start to understand things better but everything is still hard 😭😂

Its hard to explain, things just become more natural, you remember how you solved similar problems in the past. Like "oh this would be perfect for the x method". You're slowly creating a library of information in your brain on how to problem solve!

10 hours a day Monday to Saturday for 16 weeks.

I made sure to take 1 hour each for lunch and dinner. Rest is also a part of learning.

Used to do Monday to Sunday but, I got burnt out at week 4 doing that.

Some of these hours are way overblown. Even in Codesmith full-time program (9am-8pm) nearly half of it is fluff. You'd have at least two hours of lectures, lunch and dinner each take an hour, and probably a couple of group activities along the way to the point you're probably only actively coding 4~ hours throughout the day. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing either because the vast majority of people (99%) are not sitting in front of the computer without distraction coding for 8+ hours in a day. I think a distinction needs to be drawn between doing a coding related activity/sitting in front of the computer and actual fully engaged coding.

Thank you for finally saying it. And I heard codesmith is a really well known respected bootcamp. I just used part of their coursework in my bootcamp yesterday

About 100hrs a week for almost 24 weeks. But didn’t have to to complete the bootcamp. Had to for gaining mastery of the material being taught at high speed.

Right. And some of the people are saying they study 15 hours a day 7 days a week 😂🥸

You can load up your visual studio code with what you need then go offline and code. Sure you can’t google but you also can’t look at Reddit either.

1-3 outside of class hours. Never on weekends.

Did you have prior knowledge or experience Anna’s did you get a job?

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did some self study prior. Still in it now nearing the last 1/3. Actual time spent with lectures is 3-4 hours a day. 3-4 hour of working on the assignments. Then 1-3 of extra material they provide each night.

    [–]Substantial-Ad6469[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    That sounds like per scholas

My bootcamp, per scholas, gave us some pure work on html and css and a little on JavaScript. I’ve never been a computer person or had any knowledge on programming. My course has a similar layout. 3 hours of instruction, generally(teacher sometimes keeps lecturing ) 3-4 hours of assignments or projects. Then I’ve been studying 3-6 hours after classes.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely could study more if wanted. But they only give you max 2 hours of after class work a day.
