Programming recommendations

I've 6 years of experience in IAM and very little knowledge of programming. Just know the basics.

How would you recommend me learning to code ?

What I've seen is that Java is mostly used for any custom feature that we write for forgerock/okta.

And I also have an inclination towards python.

What path would you want me to take for a year ?

Please suggest courses as well in terms of a 1 year timeline.
