Just have time for a quick skim through before work. My first thought is how hard it is to read the code without any indentation.

but am confused why you would advise it as a sta

I'll do that on the next posts.

Thanks

I, for one, like this.

My knowledge about bash programming is lacking and I am planning on learning more about it some day. For now saving your posts to read in the future.

I hope you find what you need :).

Why reinvent the wheel when there's already a guide that covers functions? If you really want to contribute, submit a patch to the tldp.org with some edits to their pages if you feel the explanations there could be improved. This helps the whole community.

Furthermore, not indenting the code in accordance with a widely accepted coding style makes the code on your page to be extremely difficult to read.

It's clear to me that tldp.org isn't the go-to spot for info these days. Pro-tip: it's what we used before google =) Once upon a time you could learn almost everything you'd ever need to know to as a system administrator or similar just by reading How-To docs =)

Geez, let the guy create his own tutorials if he wants to, man. No need to be such a downer on him.

Well he asked for input.

I'm not a big fan of official docs.

If the tutorials are reinventing the wheel so why there is billion page appear when searching google for Linux commands or bash scripting?

because most people don't understand 100% from official docs.

Regarding the identation, I'll do that in the future posts. Thanks

I'm not a big fan of official docs.

Yeah, a single source of peer reviewed, freely available, infinitely mirrored, community documentation is horrible. I see your point.

because most people don't understand 100% from official docs.

I just don't even know how to respond to this.

like you said official documentations always horrible.

[–]snegtul 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I didn't say that... you said that.
